AutoCAD LT 2011 is a powerful software used by design professionals for drafting and detailing. It can be used to document ideas with precise, detailed drawings starting with basic shapes (such as lines, circles or arcs) and combining them to create more complex designs.
When drawing, the software helps to snap created objects relative to the position of existing objects. Also new objects can be created from existing ones, using tools such as copy, offset or mirror. Text, dimensions and hatches can be added to complete a drawing, and offer all the necessary information. Similar objects can be organized into layers, so that various properties can be applied to them, such as color or line type.
The ideas and drawings can be easily shared with other people, thanks to a variety of drawing and output file formats. The software uses the DWG format (one of the most widely used formats for design files) that allow for easy sharing with other users and is compatible with other Autodesk software. Other exporting formats include PDF, DWF or DGN.
The user interface can be organized to match the preferences of a user by rearranging ribbon tabs and panels and the templates allow to have the same layers, indentation styles and everything else needed, when creating a new document. The tooltips are really helpful, and they display a summary of the command.
Many of the new features added to AutoCAD LT 2011 will help the user improve control over drawings appearance and save time during everyday drafting tasks. Now objects and layers can be made transparent, thus enabling to see through them. Also the visibility of an object can be controlled independently of it's layer.
New functionality has also been added to objects control. One can now quickly select similar objects, or create new ones based on the properties of an existing object. Blocks allow to efficiently re-use content, and the dynamic properties make them even more flexible and powerful. Block attributes can also be easily managed, either one at a time (with the enhanced attributes editor) or for an entire drawing (with the synchronized attributes tool).
Annotations can now be created and edited faster and with more flexibility, using text, dimensions, multi-leaders and table tools. Scaling an annotation will help to automatically calculate the sizes of text, dimensions, blocks or pattern hatches. It also allows to show the same annotation object at multiple scales, without unneeded objects.
The fields can help creating intelligent text that references object or drawing information and automatically updates when the information is changed. The quick dimensions tool allows to quickly add dimensions to multiple objects with just one command. Grip editing can be used to move, stretch, rotate, scale and mirror objects, or to adjust parameters for dynamic blocks, change the properties of a hatch object and add or remove vertices from polylines. The align command will allow to match the scale, rotation and location of two objects.
