how to enable aero interface in windows 7 beta 6801 in virtualbox?
i've tried everything to do this, without any success
some sites suggested writing into the registry e.g. create a new key called DWM in LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoft etc. etc. etc.
and put an EnableMachineCheck DWORD with a value of zero, but this had no effect at all, i've tried various other registry path's( in CURRENT_USER and with the name WDM instead of DWM ) but absolutely nothing worked
there's a trick for Vista to edit the Composition and CompositionPolicy variables and then write net stop uxsms and so on into an administrator command window, guess you already know this
but it didn't worked
maybe the only problem is that i'm running the whole stuff in virtualbox, but of course i've installed the virtualbox additions, and still no effect, I still don't have any Aero at all
please help i'm begging desperately, if anyone knows the answer, write as soon as possible !!!
Well the areo interface requires full directx 10 compatibility which i dont think any virtual machine environment provides. I had recieved a beta version in flash hard drive from microsoft, i installed over xp system on my current 865gbf, even in that i was unable to activate the areo interface, but in the newer system with c2quad, nvedia graphics gs m8800 i was able to activate areo, and it was really amazing. if u havce a dx 10 compatible graphics woth pixel shader 2.0 or more u can enjoy areo interface but not on any virtual machine..
