Good first songs to learn on guitar?
My son who is 16 has been learning guitar (electric). He switched from violin so he's picked it up pretty quickly. He needs to give his instructor a song he wants to learn. He likes what I like (rock) so I'm thinking something Led Zeppelin or such. Can you recommend a song that is not too hard but still rockin? Please don't say Smoke on the Water.
doesn't have to be classic rock, but something gooood. not too hard as in a good first song for him, no super hard changes.
Learn some Black Sabbath or AC/DC.
He could start out with Iron Man by Black Sabbath. Pretty much every guitar player knows that song.
Learning some common tunes are good too. Like Yankee Doodle or The Star Spangled Banner.
For Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven is probably their most popularly learned song.
For power chord practice, learn some Green Day or any
songs from modern bands he likes.
For normal chord practices, he could learn Hey Three Delilah (Plain White T's) or Time of Your Life (Green Day).
For harder songs, Guns N' Roses is an excellent choice. He could start of with the intro of Sweet Child O'Mine. Probably
the most famous intro ever.
