Million Dollar Homepage, Now Half a Million Dollar Homepage?

Many of you remember Alex Tew's Million Dollar Homepage which was a major success with the general internet population. So successful, in fact, he actually did become a millionaire by selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 Dollar each as advertising space for 5 yrs. That was in 2005. Here in 2008 a new young entrepreneur is taking Alex's idea and modifying it to make it his own.

Stephen Gilbert, a young Tennessean of the age of 18, has created what could become one of the internet's newest hits. What's he call it? The "Half a Million Dollar Homepage."

His product is virtually the same as Alex's, other than the fact he's selling his pixels for half price, and is guaranteeing that your ad stays on the homepage for… a lifetime? That's right. Stephen is promising that the homepage, www.halfamilliondollarhomepage.com, will stay up for his entire lifetime.

Skeptics of the page have come out and stated that Alex's success was completely based off luck, as proven by his second installment in the Pixel "selling" chapter, Pixelotto. However, none of this has discouraged Stephen.

"I'm pretty excited about this whole thing." He says, "I do realize that a lot of people agree on the fact that Mr. Tew's success was based off complete luck and viral marketing, but I really think I got a shot here. I'm not even sure if I will sell out all the pixels, but at least I will be giving those that missed out on Alex's site, or even those that came along at a later date and thought, "Man I missed out," a shot at participating in what I see as a 'Second'  internet time capsule."

Though I'm not sure if Stephen will be as nearly as successful as Alex, I guess only time will tell.

is it possible to build a 700k home in a million dollar neighborhood?

We found a piece of land that's a short sale in a million dollar neighborhood. We're thinking of building a 1800 sq ft home where the total cost would come to about 700k (including land). Is this possible or would we have to build something that's comparable to the homes in the area?

I don't know what state your from, but things shouldn't vary too much. Check the restrictions for the neigborhood. It's usually not a restriction of how much the home costs, but infact the square footage allowed for that area. It may be that they only allow you to build a minimum of 2000sq. ft . home you never know it varies. Just go to your local court house and ask for a copy of the deed restrictions. Go there with all the info. you can on the place. Legal description, Name of previous owner...whatever you can dig up to help them find the plot. Lot#, address, that sort of thing. Hope this helped.
