Great Plains Consultant Newsflash: Gp Dynamics Old Versions Support
If you have older Great Plains version implemented long time ago for your organization, it is probably unlikely that you will set aside upgrade budget, especially trying to face recession in economy and all the associated troubles. Instead, you would probably try to find Dynamics GP consultant, who is not urging you to upgrade, but rather reassures you to stay with existing version and who is capable to support it. Let’s review old Great Plains versions and their support options:
1. Microsoft Dynamics GP on MS SQL Server. These are versions 10.0, 9.0, 8.0 and 7.5. Versions 8.0 and 7.5 are not compatible with Microsoft SQL Server 2005, so if this is your case, stay with MS SQL Server 2000. It is important point, especially when you are moving your Dynamics GP from one SQL box to another. Virtually all Great Plains VARs and Resellers should be able to support these versions and you can easily find local support
2. Great Plains Dynamics 7.0, 6.0, 5.5 and 5.0 on MS SQL Server . 7.0 and 6.0 should be compatible with MS SQL Server 2000, where earlier versions fit to MS SQL Server 7.0. Here you have to address SQL Server 7.0 compatibility issues with Windows Server – we recommend Windows 2000 Server, please check the available drivers for your intended hardware. Old GP was also branded under the name Dynamics C/S+ for versions 5.5, 5.0, 4.0
3. Great Plains Dynamics on Pervasive SQL Server 2000 (Btrieve) and Ctree (Faircom). The last version, available on these DB platforms was Dynamics GP 7.5, and since then Microsoft moved Great Plains Select to MSDE platform (scaled down version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000). Typical support scenarios here are Location Translation and Data repair via Microsoft Access linked tables
4. Great Plains Accounting for DOS and Windows support. These are versions 9.5, 9.2 and earlier on Btrieve. Typically GPA clients have to stay on Windows NT or Novell platforms. However we offer technology, moving them to Windows 2003 server and Windows XP workstation, assuming that you accept DB platform upgrade to Pervasive SQL Server 2000 SP2 or SP3

Installing the latest Inventor of the older version will my old versions AutoCad 2006 remain?
I want to install the newest Autodesk Inventor but I do not want to lose my AutoCad 2006 from that old version. Is it possible to have both versions (old and new) on my computer at the same time?
Sometimes software will not let you do this but you can rename the old AutoCad folder and make sure the new version doesn't install into the old one. This might work as I have tried this Forte Agent and had no problems with it.
