How can I open a BIN file in linux? (I'm using Open suse 10.2).?

a bin file (short for binary) is to Linux what EXEs are to LostDOS.
if you downloaded the file, you most likely only need to set it executable and it will open itself upon (double-)click.

to set the file executable:
if file is located in your home directory:
click on Konqueror (looks like a crossbreeding between a globe and a mine, down, next to the Menu button); once it's open, click in the location field and simply enter ~ (tile, that's right) this gets you to your home dir; right click on the bin file and click on Properties; in the Pop-up, click on Permission and make sure the box in front of "is executable" is checked.

if file is located on your desktop, you can right click on it right away (no need to go into Konqueror) and proceed as above.

if this does not work, right clicking on the file and clicking on Open with should offer an application to open it with (like K3b, the default burning application (in KDE))

if you are in Gnome, open Nautilus instead of Konqueror & proceed as above.
