Essential guide to makeup brushes

Essential Guide to Makeup Brushes.

The brush is an important tool in any makeup artist's kit, and top artists always have a roll of the best on hand to ensure their clients' makeup is flawless.Professional brushes will give you a seamless foundation, smouldering eyes and luscious lips. They are an investment, which will enable any makeup lover achieve the "makeup artist effect". To get you started the following are seven essential brushes to add to your collection.

Foundation Brush: A fibre optic foundation brush is probably the best for an airbrushed effect makeup application. The hand made bristles feel soft over the skin and can be used with any type of foundation from liquid to compact. Depending on your preferred look, coat the bristles with foundation and work the brush in circular motions into the skin. In minutes you will have a flawless finish to your face.

Eye-shadow Application Brush: This has a medium head with soft yet tight bristles. Use this brush to apply the base shade over your entire eye. You can also apply a medium colour with this brush to your lower eyelid.

Pencil Brush: Depending on the look you are achieving the pencil brush can aid a smoky look by applying a shade of medium or dark colour on and under your lower lashes. For a wide eye look it can be used to contour with highlighter beneath the eyebrow, or by placing small amounts of iridescent colour in the duct area of the eye for a dewy look.

Socket Brush: An Absolute must have for your collection this brush is a cross between a blender and applicator, firm yet good for blending deep into the socket. Use this brush with a dark colour to define, deepen then blend into the eye socket to aid accentuating your eye colour.

Angle Brush: Again dual purposed this brush can be used to define your eyebrows with a hint of brow colour then set with clear mascara. Also, you can use it as an eye liner by dipping the tip of the angle brush into a pot of liquid colour then apply from the outer eye in a single fluid line towards the inner duct of the eye.

Blending Brush: The ultimate "not to be without brush" is fabulous for blending shadow and takes the hard edge of any look. Utilise this to minimise and soften colour.

Blusher Brush: Ideal blusher brushes fibres will be soft and form a full rounded shape. This brush is used to contour and shade the face.

Brush Care: Once you are regularly using your brushes it is important to clean and care for them too. After each use you should cleanse your brushes with brush cleaner and at least once a week give them a treatment. By this I mean shampoo each brush, rinse well, then wrap them lovingly in paper tower. This will preserve your brushes and minimise damage to their bristles hence ensuring a longer life.

sigma brushes help - professional face kit?

i'm planning on buying the professional kit for the face, and i was wondering are the brushes really that good?
i use Clique liquid foundation, so which brush is better for applying foundation, the 190 or 187?

thanks!

a lot of reviews can be found on youtube but be warned that many of those people were sent the brushes for FREE to do a review. So take it with a grain of salt. :)

I always like to watch negative reviews to see what they had to say about it and then i watch what those people do prefer to see if we have any in common...i know it sounds like it's really lengthy but somehow for me it's not!

you can also see what people use the 190 and 187 for or what they use for their liquid foundation instead. sorry i couldnt be more help :(
