Dealing with school learning struggles
Having a child struggling in school can be a challenging situation to deal with. We always want to offer the best opportunity for our children and it can be hard to know where to turn and what to look for. Sometimes going to the school is a good starting point to finding the best course of action.
Talk to your child's teachers and discuss the areas they seem to be struggling in, talk about the options available through the school. Some schools offer after school assistance programs either with a teacher or other teachers available. Sometimes the schools have a list of older students to provide after school tutoring programs. Also, some schools offer a list of tutoring services in your area and may even have financial assistance programs to help with cost. You can also check in the community to see if there are programs through libraries or other similar organizations.
Take the time to make notes from both your child and their teacher(s) to get a good picture of the issues your child is facing with learning so you can make the best selection of the available options and find just the right one to help your child make the most of whatever program is available. Make sure the program you choose offers an evaluation process to see the areas your child is having issues and has a plan of action to address those areas specifically. See if they offer both a group and a one on one program option so that depending on how your child responds to one they will have another option if needed. Take the time to ask questions and compare the styles of learning they use to the type of learning your child is accustomed to.
The tutoring program you select should be in a comfortable setting for your child with a schedule that will work well with your own. You may not find the exact program for your child right away and you shouldn't feel bad after giving a program a try to go to another if you are just not seeing the expected results. Be sure to work with the program for a little while keeping in mind it may take some time to find a technique that works the best for your child.

Should elementary school students be learning a foreign language?
Do you think that it is appropriate for children in elementary school to be learning a foreign language? Is it a good idea or a bad idea?
I think it's a good idea to introduce them to the other language but I don't think it should be lots of work with it yet. Just have them learn fun things like songs and such in other languages. Greetings and other things. I don't think they should be conjugating verbs and other things though.
